This year's National Day on Writing Celebration takes place at both Germantown and Rockville! Join the fun on Monday, October 22 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the bookstore lobby at either Rockville or Germantown.
The National Day on Writing is designated by the U.S. Congress each October, and Montgomery College joins the National Writing Project and National Council of Teachers of English in celebrating this event.
As part of the national event, we are asked to recognize ourselves as writers whether we are workers, scholars, students, poets, bloggers, text messagers, birthday-card senders, or office e-mail communicators. We celebrate both the importance and joy of writing.
Our party includes cake, balloons, and a raffle for all participants who stop by to spend a few minutes to write with us! Paper, pens, and pencils and an e-mail address for electronic submissions will be provided.
Participants can write in any language about a topic or topics of their own choosing or about the importance of writing in their lives, work, or classes. For the adventurous, mystery on-the-spot writing prompts will also be provided. Our short writings will then be shared on the Writing in the Disciplines website and displayed around the campuses.
We look forward to seeing you at the National Day on Writing.
Please contact the Writing in the Disciplines college-wide coordinator, Dr. Christina Devlin, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 240-567-6925, with any questions.
