Calling all faculty and staff!
Montgomery College has been selected to be part of the USA Science & Engineering Festival http://www.usasciencefestival.org, the country's first national science festival, taking place on October 23 and 24 on the National Mall in Washington D.C. This free festival will feature over 1,500 hands-on science activities, including the College's exhibit on magnetic levitation. Thousands of people will have the opportunity to learn about Montgomery College, our science and engineering education, and our talented faculty, staff, and students.
We need your help! Sign up to volunteer!
We need faculty and staff volunteers to help represent Montgomery College and support our exhibit on magnetic levitation (where an object is suspended with no support other than magnetic fields).
The USA Science and Engineering Festival will start at 10:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. on both days, October 23 and 24. Volunteers are needed before and after those times to help set-up and clean-up our exhibit. Our exhibit is located on the National Mall in tents 262, 264 and 266 (along Madison Drive between 3rd and 4th Street).
Faculty/staff volunteers will:
1. work at least one 3-hour shift
2. attend a training session before the exhibit (date and time TBA)
3. work outdoors (i.e. wear comfortable attire and footwear)
4. help supervise the student volunteers
5. have FUN!
The faculty/staff volunteer shifts have been divided into the following times (for both days):
Shift 1: 6-9 a.m.
Shift 2: 9 a.m.-12 noon
Shift 3: 12 noon-3 p.m.
Shift 4: 3-6 p.m.
If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail Virginia Miller (Virginia.miller@montgomerycollege.edu) with your first TWO shift preferences (time and day) and we will try our best to accommodate your first choice.
