The Sarah Silberman Gallery opens the Spring Semester with "Sculptures," an exhibition of the recent work by Zdeno Mayercak. Mayercak exhibits more than a dozen sculptures depicting abstracted and highly expressive child-like faces composed of fired clay, wood, plastic, and fabric, among other materials. The pieces also bear strikingly evocative titles: "First Cry," "I'm Not Happy," "Trophy Child" and "Wonder Age," which go along with the idea of children's emotion taken to a heightened degree.
The exhibition opens with a Gallery Talk by Professor Mayercak at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, followed by a reception from 5-7 p.m. Both events will take place in the Sarah Silberman Gallery, which is on the second floor of the Paul Peck Art Building on the Rockville Campus. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. "Sculptures" will be on display until February 25.
