Montgomery College's Associated Writing Programs (AWP) event, "Best of 50: Potomac Review Celebrates," opened the national AWP conference last Friday in Washington, D.C. Thanks go to Kirk Nesset, Sandra Beasley, Nancy Naomi Carlson, Amina Gautier, Jennine Capo Crucet, and Marilyn Kallet for their wonderful performances. The reading showcased some of the best work of the 49 issues of the Potomac Review, which will be released in a special issue in the early fall.

Also Potomac Review joined Moon Milk Review at the Johns Hopkins University Dupont Circle campus for an off-site reading on Friday evening. Nearly 150 people attended the two readings. The love of poetry and essays and stories is alive and well.

The AWP is the annual national conference that brings writers, students, and teachers together from many different educational and professional areas from community colleges to Ph.D. programs to local community writers' centers. The Potomac Review staff was honored that its event was selected to be included in the conference.
