On July 1, 2011 the IT Help Desk will be renamed to the IT Service Desk. The new name better reflects the enhanced service effecting changes that are coming soon. In addition to the name change, the IT Help Desk email address will change to firstname.lastname@example.org. The IT Service Desk telephone number will remain 240-567-7222.
Also beginning on July 1, there will be a new Web-based Self Service system available for employees to use when contacting the IT Service Desk. You will be able to enter work order requests, get answers to simple technology questions, obtain status on requests, and access OIT forms for requesting hardware, software, and new technology. In the coming weeks, more information will be available on how to access Self Service.
By July 1, please consider the documentation your department produces and change any references from IT Help Desk to IT Service Desk.
