The four Montgomery College faculty members are from the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus: * Lauralyn McWilliams, Professor, Communications and Performing Arts * Dan Jenkins, Assistant Professor of Philosophy * Anthony Ball, Instructor, Speech and Communication * Christopher Koch, Professor Arts Technologies The other colleges represented in the video are Chattahoochee Technical College (GA), Georgia Perimeter College, Hennepin Technical College (NM), and Mesa Community College (AZ). The video is part of the "Make It Personal: College Completion" initiative funded by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and managed by AACC. Since 2008 the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus has been focusing on creating a dialogue among students and in the classroom environment about the issues of unplanned pregnancy, life choices, and college completion. The College received two grants of $12,000 and $100,000 from The National Campaign, and a third grant of $20,000 from AACC, as part of the Make It Personal: College Completion initiative. Jim Walters, director of student life at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, has served as project director for all three grants. Working with 30 faculty members on all three campuses, Montgomery College has developed a number of models within various disciplines (for example, graphic arts, public policy, health science, etc.) that have incorporated the discussion of unplanned pregnancy into the curriculum. The current focus is on college completion and continuing outreach by training additional faculty members, holding discussion events, publishing articles, and presenting to external audiences. Red Wiggler is a sustainable Care Farm where people with and without developmental disabilities come together to work, learn, and grow healthy food! During our morning of service, we will harvest the summer crops and help plant and get ready for the fall crop. Lunch provided. Students will need to provide their own transportation to the farm.
