The Center for Teaching and Learning is partnering with the Collegewide Outcomes Assessment Team (COAT) to offer training for faculty as the College is implementing a revised general education course assessment process.

Beginning in the fall, all foundation and ARTS distribution courses will collect data based on course assessment plans being developed this spring. The other distribution areas will begin developing course assessment plans with data collection coming up over the next three years.

Three types of sessions will be offered. The first type is focused on developing the characteristics of the two areas of proficiency - arts and aesthetic awareness and personal, civic, and social responsibility, in order to create rubrics which will be used for assessment. The second type is focused on training faculty to develop their general education assessment plans. The third type is focused on discussing how the general education competencies rubrics are used for assessment, and ways of leveraging the assessment of these competencies to create learning opportunities.
