Screening of the film "Mooz-Lum" April 30 in TC 136 at the Rockville Campus
In celebration of Arab American Heritage Month at Montgomery College, please join us on Monday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m., in the Technical Center Building (TC), Room 136 on the Rockville Campus for a film screening of "Mooz-Lum," followed by a discussion. The film discussion will be facilitated by Professor Alonzo Smith of Montgomery College.
Mooz-Lum is a 2010 American independent film written and directed by Qasim "Q" Basir. It tells the story of an African American Muslim family whose lives are changed by the September 11 attacks and their aftermath. The film was initially promoted primarily through social media. Qasim "Q" Basir indicted on the film website" We're making a movie that we hope will offer a different perspective on Muslims/Islam that what is normally portrayed. As a result, opening the minds & hearts of millions" and "the crew behind this film consists of many different religions, cultures & nationalities.
