Raptors Men's and Women's Basketball With Twin Wins

The Raptors men's and women's basketball teams had twin wins this past Saturday over the Wolfpack of Westmoreland County Community College. Both games ended with the final score of MC 96, WCCC 60. The MC women's team got out to an eight point lead in the first four minutes and never gave up the lead. MC Freshman, Jerbria Smith scored a career high 33 points. Angelica Ceccone scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Nicole Cunningham recorded 13 points and had 10 rebounds. With this win, the MC women's team improves their record to 14-9 overall, scoring an average of 76 per game.

The MC men's basketball team got a strong jump out of the gate. The Raptors built a 58-32 lead over the Wolfpack by halftime. Like the MC women's team, the men's team never trailed during the match. MC Sophomore, Andre Gaines was scoring machine shooting 68% from the field and scoring 28 points. MC freshmen D'Angelo Vaughn and Zach Curran both recorded 12 points in the Raptors 96-60 win over WCCC.

In between the women's and men's basketball games, the Athletic Department recognized it's athletic alumni and their accomplishments as Knights, Falcons and Gryphons. The alumni athletes recognized included; Hanan Abdou (women's basketball 08-09), Angulo Alvarado (men's soccer 10-11), Gelila Berhane (women's basketball 10-12), Heather Bodenhamer (women's soccer 11-12), Patrick Carden (TP/SS men's basketball 77-79), Dimitri Djiki (men's basketball 11-12), Yasmene Harris (women's basketball 10-11), Hiba El-Kabli (women's soccer 11-12), Turquoia Johnson (women's track & field and basketball 11-12), Lakisha Nickens-Gaither (women's basketball 00-01), Alvaro Nieto (men's soccer 01-02), Tracy Lott (football 76-77), and Melissa Weithman (women's basketball 05 and 07).
