Join MC's Office of Student Life's Service-Learning Program and the national Alternative Break Community Partner of the Year, the Steinbruck Center for Urban Studies, for an Alternative Summer Break! Alternative Breaks are week- and weekend-long service trips that help students learn about social issues through direct service, issue education, and reflection.

On this ASB, we will work with the Center's Summer Arts and English Language Camp, ArtSmart, a program started after neighborhood families told community organizers at the Center their children were losing a grade level of English every summer. We'll support ArtSmart staff and teachers, helping with setup and activities, learning about the local community we serve with, and staffing SoulFeista, a community block party that marks the end of camp.
