In just a few short weeks, the College community will get to see its first dynamically-driven online catalog.

The Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs expects to launch a test-version of an automated, web-based catalog in early September. Shortly after the Labor Day holiday, members of the College community will be able to explore the design and preliminary features of our online catalog, developed by the online catalog technology company Digital Architecture.

The online catalog will be introduced to the College community in multiple phases. The first phase will take place in September, and the content will mirror the format and structure as what appears in the current 2014-2015 print catalog. The College community could consider this catalog as a beta-test catalog that they can explore at their leisure throughout the fall semester.

During the fall the Online Catalog Implementation Team will collect additional content and develop the technology to implement some advanced features. The team expects to launch the second phase of the catalog at some point in the early half of the spring semester.

Until that point in the spring semester, the College will continue to maintain its CMS-designed online catalog (http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/catalog) as its official College catalog. After the second phase is introduced, the CMS site will be decommissioned and Digital Architecture's site will be the only catalog for student/employee use.

Print catalogs will continue to be available throughout the 2014-2015 academic year. Dr. Sanjay Rai, senior vice president for academic affairs, will determine if print catalogs will continue to be printed for future academic years.

Throughout the fall semester, the Online Catalog Implementation team will lead special workshops and training sessions for anyone interested in using the online catalog. The team will also be developing a set of training programs for those individuals who were responsible for updating content within the print catalog, and they will introduce them to Digital Architecture's easy-to-learn editing software. Stay tuned for more information!

Once the website goes live, all students and employees are welcome to e-mail feedback about the site's content and usability to catalog@montgomerycollege.edu. The Online Catalog Implementation team will review all comments as they consider what features to implement during the catalog's second phase in the early spring semester.

As the College moves forward with these efforts, there will be additional communications. If anyone has questions or comments about the progress of the online catalog, please contact Dr. Clarice Somersall, associate senior vice president for academic affairs and lead coordinator of the online catalog implementation efforts. She can be reached at clarice.somersall@montgomerycollege.edu or 240-567-4226.
