Developing the Skillful Supervisor (DSS) is an interactive, cohort program designed with the new supervisor, and those preparing to move into a supervisory role, in mind. This program will focus on developing the skills needed to make the transition into new management roles and responsibilities. Specifically, the program has four goals for participants: understand your new role--from your perspective and that of your manager and your staff; make a successful transition from being a member of a department or team to providing supervision to a department or team; establish a presence and build credibility as a new supervisor; facilitate networking among managers in order to share ideas, solve problems, and provide support to one another.

DSS is open to any MC employee, especially those who are preparing to move into supervision within the next 6-12 months, or those will less than one year of formal supervisory experience. This program also creates a solid foundation for those planning to attend the MC Management cohort program at a later date. Employees who supervise student employees are also encouraged to attend.
