As Dr. Sanjay Rai, senior vice president for Academic Affairs, shared with you in his September 5 communication, excellent progress has been made on Montgomery College's first online catalog. The online catalog will make program and course information and admissions processes accessible to our students in the same way that they search for information and make transactions - on the Web and from their mobile devices. While printed catalogs will continue to be available, the online technology will provide the added benefits of allowing students and faculty to search every part of the website - or just specific programs of study and course descriptions - to understand the College's curriculum and key academic policies, and of connecting students directly to registration functions and personnel.

Since last spring, the Online Catalog Advisory and Implementation committees have worked closely with the technology company Digital Architecture to prepare for full migration and launch in the upcoming months. Informed by the feedback they gathered from the College community through meetings and focus groups in the past year, the online catalog test site has been developed and is now available for your perusal at http://catalog.montgomerycollege.edu.

This test website constitutes the first phase of the implementation process and provides an opportunity to become familiar with the online format before the catalog goes live. Please explore the site using its left-side navigation menu and the search features in the upper-left corner and submit your feedback and comments via e-mail to catalog@montgomerycollege.edu.

Throughout the fall semester the implementation team, led by Dr. Rai's office and including representatives from faculty, the Office of Information Technology, the Collegewide Curriculum Committee, and the Communications Office, will review your feedback to finalize the catalog, develop new content, make updates, and build new technical features. Training will be available soon for employees and students who want to learn about the features of the new online catalog in more depth.

Stay tuned to Inside MC and My MC for dates and more information throughout the fall semester.

The finalized online catalog will be launched in the early part of the spring 2015 semester. Until that time, please continue to use the 2014-15 print catalog, also available online at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/catalog, as the official academic catalog.

Please contact Dr. Clarice Somersall, associate senior vice president for academic affairs and lead coordinator of the online catalog implementation efforts, with questions or comments about the progress of the online catalog. Thank you.
