In October, members from the Raptors men's basketball team and Michael Simone, athletic coordinator took part in Read across MC. Sophomores Didas Akognon, Zack Curran, D'Angelo Vaughan, and William Jackson took time out of their day to visit the Montgomery College Takoma Park Early Learning Center. This was a great experience for all. The children had a great time shooting hoops with the athletes and listening to stories.

Cindy Newsome, director of the center, said the children have really enjoyed the visits by the athletes. They look forward to them and they ask when they are coming back. There is improved interest in playing basketball during play time. The athletes enjoyed their time with the class and they look forward to the next time they can make it over.
