The Beacon Honors Conference celebrates the achievements of two-year college students in research, writing, and speaking. Sponsored by a coalition of member community colleges in the Mid-Atlantic region, honors students have the opportunity to submit research papers in a variety of different disciplines. The Conference was held at Bergen Community College on June 3.
This year, 29 MC student papers were accepted for either panel or poster presentation. The winner of each panel category was selected by a judge who is a faculty member in the discipline from a university or four-year college. MC students won outstanding panel presenters in seven categories, the highest total by any of the 15 colleges participating. The student winners represented three honors programs at the college: Montgomery Scholars, Renaissance Scholars and Scholars Circle.
Congratulations to the student winners and their faculty mentors: Nada Babaa, Daniela Rebolledo, and Charlotte Stoliker (Dr. Nathan Zook); Kevin Birungi and Christian Gbewordo (Dr. Carole Wolin); Yechan Choi (Professor David Carter); Amie Fye (Professor Jamie Gillan).
