If you're making a list and checking it twice, why not put attending a functional council meeting right at the top this month? Learn the latest about College initiatives and see firsthand how feedback from governance helps to broaden the conversation about many issues - issues that affect you and the students you work with.

Following are the times and locations for each meeting:

Academic Services Council. Meets Thursday, December 8, 2-3:30 p.m., Science Center (SC) 151 on the Rockville Campus. The council will discuss classroom technology utilization and assessment center hours and hear from the College ombuds.

Employee Services Council. Meets Thursday, December 15, 2-4 p.m., Mannakee (MKE) 335.

Operational Services Council. Meets Thursday, December 8, 3-5 p.m., Office of Information Technology Building (OITB) 309 in Rockville. The council is working on facilities and security issues related to the anticipated opening of the new parking garage on the Rockville Campus.

Student Services and Success Council. Meets Thursday, December 8, 2-4 p.m., Mannakee (MKE) 335.

Functional councils focus on specific areas of service within the College. Their membership encompasses faculty, staff and administrators from throughout the institution, including Workforce Development & Continuing Education. Each council also includes two student members.

All constituents are welcome to attend meetings. If you wish to share an idea or raise awareness of an issue, you may attend the open comments/constituent concerns period at the beginning of every meeting. Although it is not required, you are encouraged to contact the council chair ahead of time to inform him or her that you would like to speak at the meeting.

Visit the governance website for more information on the functional councils and to find out who the functional council chairs and council members are:
