Dr. Pollard has approved a request from governance to reinstate a reception following the graduation ceremony this spring. The College Council asked the president to reinstate the celebration and forwarded recommendations from the Student Council and Faculty Council.
In its recommendation, the Student Council cited the "importance of celebrating completion and giving faculty and staff the space and reason to gather together."
The Faculty Council resolution noted that "achievement of a college degree is an accomplishment deserving of both recognition and celebration. It is the biggest day in the lives of our students and their extended families and their first day as members of the Montgomery College family of alumni."
Commencement marks the final event of the College's 70th anniversary celebration year. "Once the funding source and amount are identified, the commencement committee will work diligently to produce a reception that will celebrate student success," said Susan Sullivan, director of special events in the Office of Advancement and Community Engagement.
Details about commencement will be communicated later this spring. Questions can be directed to Susan Sullivan at firstname.lastname@example.org or 240-567-7489.
