Teaching with the Smithsonian Learning Lab:
Interdisciplinary Workshop and Networking Event
Friday, February 3, 2017, 2 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Montgomery College, Rockville Campus
Teaching with the Smithsonian Learning Lab: Interdisciplinary Workshop and Networking is a hands-on workshop for college faculty from all disciplines to introduce them to the new Smithsonian Learning Lab educational platform and build skills and confidence in using Learning Lab collections and resources in both face to face and online courses.
It is also a networking event--designed to bring together faculty, staff and librarians from a variety of local colleges and universities to Montgomery College--to learn, share ideas and build friendships. Please share information about this workshop with friends and colleagues from other area schools. We will serve a light supper.
Workshop Participants Will:
-establish an account with the Smithsonian Learning Lab; learn to search collections and use the LL tools;
-build their own Learning Lab collection and consider how you may incorporate collections into new or existing assignments;
-hear from faculty representing a number of disciplines about how they are using the Learning Lab in their classes;
- hear about how Montgomery College faculty integrate museum learning into classes, across the disciplines; and
-enjoy meeting faculty, staff and librarians from other colleges and universities who share interests in novel technologies and teaching techniques.
