Have you read the book or seen the movie Hidden Figures and wondered about other hidden stories? We did, and we decided to research and share some of these stories.

Event Information:
I Don't Even Know Her Name: "Hidden Figures" in our Disciplines
Wednesday, March 8
4 to 6 p.m.
Germantown Campus
Biosciences Education Center, Room 151

A group of Montgomery College faculty members -- from geology, physics, mathematics, and political science -- will come together to host a panel discussion about the impact of too-often-unseen women in our disciplines. We will introduce you to their experiences and achievements.

The event is co-sponsored by: Integrative Studies; the Women's and Gender Studies Program; the Germantown Humanities Department; Writing in the Disciplines; Quantitative Reasoning in the Disciplines

The event will begin with a panel presentation and discussion, and will end with a reflective activity. Certificates of Attendance for students will be available for the event.

In the acknowledgements to Hidden Figures, Margot Lee Shetterly writes that "The history that has come together in these pages wasn't so much hidden as unseen -- fragments patiently biding their time in footnotes and family anecdotes and musty folders before returning to view." We hope that our panel discussion will inspire you to dig into footnotes and folders to uncover even more stories.
