Subject: Annual Performance Evaluations for Staff and Administrators--Deadlines for FY17 Evaluations and FY18 Goal Plans
As Montgomery College strives to help our employees see how their jobs and expected contributions support the work of the College, it is important for each staff member and administrator to participate annually in the setting of goals and the evaluation of performance. The purpose of this communication is to serve as reminder that we are embarking on that time of year where annual evaluations are completed and to outline the specific deadlines for FY17 evaluations and FY18 goal plans.
<b>Timelines and Deadlines</B>
The timeline and system deadlines for completing this year's performance management tasks within Taleo (the College's talent management system) are attached.
While these deadlines apply for collegewide submission within the Taleo system, supervisors may set earlier deadlines to ensure timely completion of evaluations. Please check with your supervisor regarding your unit or team's deadlines.
<b>Important Additional Information</b>
Please note that staff, department chairs, and administrators who started in their position after January 1, 2017 will not participate in the FY17 annual evaluation. They will complete the six-month evaluation (by paper form) and submit their FY18 goal plan (in Taleo). Employees who started in November or December 2016 will be completing their six-month evaluation and annual evaluations simultaneously. As indicated in the attached table, the FY17 performance evaluations and FY18 goal plans will become available on April 1, 2017. This provides ample time for all employees and supervisors to complete the evaluation and goal-setting process by August 15th. Please begin your planning and preparation now as that deadline is firm and cannot be extended.
As you prepare, please note and take into consideration:<ul><li>All FY17 goal plans must be approved by the supervisor by March 31st to be included in the FY17 evaluation form in Taleo. If an employee has made any changes to their FY17 goal plan, the supervisor must go back into Taleo and re-approve it by March 31st. If an employee does not have an approved goal plan, Taleo will prevent the evaluation from being submitted.</li><li> While FY18 goal-setting will take place in Taleo, it is likely that these goals will be evaluated using Workday in FY18. Therefore, we encourage you to initially draft your FY18 goals in MS Word and save the document. You can copy and paste them into Taleo and into Workday.<li>Supervisors should review the material pertaining to goal plans and performance evaluations in the supervisor accountability metric.</li></ul>
As you move forward with goal setting and evaluation of performance, I encourage you to take advantage of the online resources for writing goal plans and performance evaluations.
