The College Council recently endorsed three recommendations from the Student Council and forwarded them to College leadership for consideration.
Know Before Registering. The first is a recommendation that Dr. Pollard and the administration examine the feasibility of making available to students salient sections of course syllabi prior to registration. According to the Student Council, such information-- which might include composition of grades, key course requirements and timelines for completion, how much a professor uses Blackboard, and the class attendance policy--could help students better plan their course loads and schedules and contribute to student success.
Quiz/Exam Make-Up Policy. The Student Council also recommended that the College administration examine the feasibility of standardizing across the College a compassionate policy to enable students to take make-up quizzes, tests, and exams due to extenuating circumstances including bereavement, sickness, and other issues beyond students' control. The request was made in response to situations students cited in which professors have suggested that College policy does not permit them to be flexible when students miss class due to circumstances beyond their control.
Nurse on Campus. The third recommendation is a request that College leadership examine the feasibility of providing students with a nurse on all three campuses to attend to immediate health challenges students may face.
