On Thursday, April 27, 2017, millions of workplaces, employees, parents and children will celebrate the 24th anniversary of the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work(R) Day program.
This year, Montgomery College employees have two options for participating:
* Both options are open to children ages 8-18 years old.
* For both options, parent /guardian must remain with child/children at all times.
* For both options, employees must secure supervisor approval in order to participate.
Option #1 Register for a structured, 3-hour morning program on one of our 3 campuses.
* Pre-registration is required and limited to 50 children per campus.
* Registration for Rockville and Germantown has closed but Takoma Park has 25 spots remaining and registration will remain open through April 21st.

Option #2: Bring your child to work.

<b>In all cases, minors are not permitted in areas of campus that may pose a danger to them, such as maintenance facilities, construction areas or unapproved lab spaces.</b>

Q: What is the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work(R) program?
A: Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work(R) encourages girls and boys across the country to dream without gender limitations and to think imaginatively about their family, work and community lives. This national, public education program connects what children learn at school with the actual working world. Children learn that a family-friendly work environment is an employer and family issue and not just a woman's issue. Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work helps girls and boys across the nation discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life.
Q: What is the recommended age and why?
A: The program is recommended for girls and boys ages 8 to 18. While children who are older than twelve may benefit from the program, children under eight tend to be facing different issues (attention span, reading comprehension, etc.) and simply do not benefit from the program in the same way as older participants.
Q: I would like to bring a nephew, grandchild, or other special child in my life. Is that an option?
A: Yes! We recognize that many employees may not have children ages 8-18 but still want to share the day with a special child.
Q: Can I participate in both options?
A: Yes, if you have pre-registered for a space in the structured program, you may choose to bring your child/children to your office for the remainder of the work day. Remember to secure supervisor approval.
Q: I have a meeting scheduled in the middle of the day. May I leave my child with a coworker?
A: No, children must remain under parent/guardian supervision at all times. It is not allowable to shift supervision responsibilities to another employee. It also is not allowable to leave a child unattended in an office while the parent/guardian attends to work duties.
