Two One Maryland One Book events are taking place on the Germantown Campus on Monday, September 25. These events highlight the 2017 selection, Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

The Paul Peck Humanities Institute and MC Libraries are proud to offer a Literary Paper Dolls Workshop, 9/25, 12:30pm to 2pm, HS 107. This 1.5 hour-long workshop is inspired by the Kyle Hilton's book, Literary Paper Dolls, published by Attendees will collaborate to design a paper dolls book that celebrates and examines the characters from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Purple Hibiscus. Each participant will contribute one page--including the doll cut-out, clothing change selections and artifacts related to the character, story, location and period. Participants may choose to add more details about the author or the themes examined in the book. The drawings will be digitized and combined into a book; artists who agree to have their art included will receive their originals back. Pre-registration is required. To register, visit

Also on Monday, 9/25, the MC Libraries are hosting an informal book discussion of Purple Hibiscus. The discussion takes place from 6pm to 7:30pm in HS 107 and light refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is required. To register, please visit
