The Institute for Race, Justice, and Community Engagement in conjunction with Student Life will host Damien Thaddeus Jones on Monday, September 25.

Damien Jones is currently the Managing Partner of The Ambition Group, a strategy, policy, and community engagement firm committed to empowering America's next generation of leaders. An award-winning leader, Damien cut his teeth as a grassroots activist in Houston using religion and hip-hop as a tool to engage youth in social change around issues such as community policing, education, incarceration, and environmental justice.

Since his days as a youth in Jackson, MS, Damien has been a servant leader dedicated to ensuring all Americans enjoy life, liberty, and can pursue happiness. He previously served as Program Coordinator of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Leadership Institute where he prepared the next generation to take its place in the fields of community service and policy development and increased the pool of young African American leaders in public service careers and public policy positions.

Damien, a veteran of the United States Air Force, is regularly called upon by the media for his innovative opinions on the future of politics and leadership. An engaging speaker, he conducts keynote presentations for corporations and conferences.

At this workshop, Damien will teach/advise students interested in starting their own podcasts and working in the field of communications as well as discuss community engagement and leadership.

Where: Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus (P4/Second Floor-Room 201)
When: September 25
Time: 1-2:30pm
