Model Minorities or Struggling Immigrants: Asian Americans in the National Capital Region
Did you know that approximately three quarters of the National Capital Region's Asian American populations are foreign-born? In this course, you will explore the complex and sometimes awkward dynamics of the Asian American experience in the capital region, with a focus on Montgomery County's transformation as a 21st century community and the global/local connections. You will examine this distinct characteristic that has largely shaped the fastest-growing racial group's life as new Americans. In addition, you will discuss the settlement patterns, professions of choice, community life, and political outlook.
Course: LLI196 1.5 Hours
