The staff of The Sligo Journal (Issue 2017) is pleased to announce that the publication has won seven national awards given by the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA).
These awards include:
*2nd Place for the best magazine from a large college in the Eastern Division;
Faculty Advisors: Robert L. Giron and Michael LeBlanc
*1st Place (tie) for best poem: "Carried by Whales" by Richard Loor
*1st Place (tie) for best poem: "Mononormative Kaddish" by Jonathan Korns
*Honorable Mention (tie) for poem: "Fireworks" by Zander Foster Phillips
*1st Place for best short story: "The Native Dream" by Valerie Gormley
*1st Place for art: "Motown" by Robert Chanin
*Honorable Mention: for art: "Bjork" by Amendiana Adamo
