On October 19, in honor of international Conflict Resolution Day, the Office of the Ombuds published its fourth annual report collegewide. The report not only categorizes the employee visitors who have sought assistance from the ombuds by employee group, ethnicity, gender, and work division (as long as confidentiality can be maintained), but also highlights the kinds of concerns that these visitors have brought to the ombuds. Moreover, the report makes recommendations as to possible next steps the College can take to promote positive change at Montgomery College.

This year, the Office of the Ombuds also produced a companion one-page FY17 Summary Data Report that includes highlights from the full report. Both the full report and short report can be found at:, under Annual Ombuds Reports.

The Office of the Ombuds plays an important part in assisting with the resolution of workplace conflict at Montgomery College by providing all employees with a safe and confidential forum to explore options available to resolve issues and concerns. The office continues to be well utilized, with 4% of College employees, 126 individuals, seeking ombuds services during fiscal year 2017, July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017.

To invite the ombuds to discuss highlights from the annual report with you and your colleagues, or to make an appointment to speak with the ombuds privately, please email the ombuds at or call 240-687-6188. Thank you.
