The Frank Islam Athenaeum Symposia Speaker Series presents the Third Annual Bella Mischkinsky Memorial Lecture delivered by Holocaust survivor Manny (Emmanuel) Mandel.
Please join us for Mr. Mandel's talk entitled, "The Holocaust and the Danger of Not Learning from History." Mr. Mandel will discuss his experiences in Hungary during World War II and the German occupation. In Nazi-occupied Hungary, his family became part of a negotiated swap of people for goods and promised exit to Switzerland. Instead, he and his mother were diverted to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where they spent six months. His father was compelled to join a Hungarian forced labor brigade.
A reception will follow.
