Montgomery College was recently awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) this past summer, titled "One College, Many Voices." (Please visithttp://mcnews.montgomerycollege.edu/2017/08/montgomery-college-awarded-100000-neh-grant for the press release). Like our previous grant that created the Global Humanities Institute, this one will also train faculty to integrate global content and perspectives into their teaching. In addition, faculty will focus on ways to help students improve intercultural competencies.

Like the NEH and most institutions of higher education today, we believe that our students benefit enormously when we are able to help them make connections between world events, approaches to knowledge, and what the future may hold. Introducing the humanities to global topics enables our students and faculty to consider the multitude of perspectives that we have to adopt today in order to understand more deeply the essence of the human experience in an increasingly connected and complex world.

Unlike our previous grant, the focus of this new grant is to engage faculty in Communication Studies and in disciplines other than the Humanities. The current fellowship is for one semester only (spring 2018) and comes with 1 ESH. Thus, it does not displace a course and should have minimal impact on teaching schedules.
