On Monday, Montgomery College had a power failure in the Humanities Building on the Rockville Campus and a gas leak on the Germantown Campus. Sign up for MC Alerts today to make sure you stay updated on all Montgomery College information.

We strongly urge you to register your cell phone number and other contact information to the new MC Alert system.

How do you update your account to add a cell phone number or personal email address? Simply log in to your MyMC account and click on the MC Alert icon. You will be sent to the MC Alert page where you can confirm/update your contact information and choose your notification preferences for text messages, personal emails, etc.

MC Alert messages will include, but are not limited to, campus closings and delays, immediate emergency situations such as active shooter and lock down orders, or other notices to which you have subscribed. Notifications will alert students, faculty, and staff about emergency situations and advise what to do to stay safe and keep out of harm's way.

Note: College users of the County's Alert Montgomery system should subscribe to the new MC Alert system. Alert Montgomery notifications for Montgomery College will cease in the near future. (Alert Montgomery notifications for traffic, weather, etc., will continue.)

To reiterate, the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management strongly advises you to update your MC Alert notification preferences and contact information and, most importantly, add your cell phone number to receive emergency text messages. All MC students and employees are automatically enrolled in MC Alert by way of their MC email addresses. We do NOT have your cell phone numbers in the MC Alert system until you add them. Simply log in to your MC Alert account (via MyMC login) and update your information.
For more information, please visit the MC Alert web page.

You can also contact Shawn Harrison, Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management, at shawn.harrison@montgomerycollege.edu, or Marcus Rosano, Director of Media and Public Relations, at marcus.rosano@montgomerycollege.edu with MC Alert questions.
