Last June, MC faculty and staff, as well as student scholars, conducted important research while participating in the short term study abroad program, "Italy: the Legacies of Ancient Rome." They will be sharing their findings through Powerpoint presentations, on Friday, October 5, 2 - 4 p.m.; Room 125, Science Center, Rockville Campus.

Here are the presenters and presentation themes:

- Matthew Colburn, Lecturer in English and Reading, on "What is Democracy: Slavery in Ancient Rome"
- Sebastian Vinueza-Romo, Student Scholar, on "Pompeii and Herculaneum: Advanced Civilizations Under the Ashes"
- Stanley Friedman, Professor of Chemistry, "Ancient Roman Chemistry, Engineering, and Life"
- Antea Jarazi, Student Scholar, on "Italy: Culture and Architecture"
- Kenneth Jassie, Professor of Art History, on "The Legacies of Ancient Roman Art and Architecture."
- Gabriel Mafra Versiani, Student Scholar, on "Bread and Circus"
- Monica Mellini, Professor of Electrical Engineering, on "Italy Adventure: Engineering Civilization"
