Category: Professional Development

The modern classroom presents significant challenges some of which result from increasing advances in technology. Some of the devices are sources of distraction and may have negative impact on attention and learner's memory. However, there are also certain advantages such as improved efficiency in communication and interaction between the instructor and student and among students. Some educators contend that micro-learning strategies are effective in optimizing learning and retention. Micro-learning concept refers to instructional strategies utilizing 'bite-sized' segments of course content, presented in a wide range of formats and using different platforms.

During the pedagogical discussion, we will examine whether using micro-learning strategies is indeed a viable solution to current teaching and learning challenges. We will discuss different kinds of micro-learning strategies, how you decide whether a particular strategy is relevant to your course, and the benefits to your students.
