Talented TP/SS Building Service Worker Fritz Mirand presented two of his amazing Haitian-history-themed paintings and gave a lecture about the origins of their inspiration to a packed room of students and employees on October 24 as part of a Humanities Day lecture on campus called "The Akademi Kreyl Ayisyen: Haiti's Linguistic Citadelle."

One painting depicts the Citadelle Laferrire, an iconic Haitian landmark that is one of the largest fortresses in the Americas. The work was Mirand's final project for an art class he took on campus earlier this year. The other is called "Barbarisms of the Colonial Era," and is the second in a series of paintings Mirand is working on that are all related to his home country of Haiti. More pictures are attached below.

Although Mirand has been a painter in his free time for many years, he started taking art classes at MC this year to increase his knowledge of painting techniques.
