This Halloween higher education is facing major challenges more frightening than anything Hollywood can conjure up. If nothing changes, the cost of college and the amount of student debt will continue to skyrocket. Academia has already been undermined by the decline in tenure, the plight of adjunct faculty, and the cuts in funding for public institutions.

Please join us Oct. 31 for a panel discussion on the Future of Higher Education, 1:30 pm-3:30 pm, at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, 2nd floor Atrium of the Student Services Building.

We'll talk about these scary issues and possible solutions with our panelists:

- Will Smith, Maryland State Senator, D-District 20, on tuition-free college proposals

- Maria Maisto, President and Executive Director of New Faculty Majority, on the state of higher education, and

- Anne McLeer, Director of Higher Education and Research for SEIU Local 500, on the unionization of adjunct faculty and future trends

This will be a fascinating educational panel with time allotted for questions and answers.

This event is co-sponsored by the Montgomery College Part-Time Faculty Union (SEIU Local 500), AFSCME Local 2380, the Montgomery College Student Council, and the TPSS Campus Student Senate.
