In honor of Veterans Day, and to raise awareness about important issues regarding veterans and military service, Combat2College is hosting a series of films/discussions on all three campuses.

What Makes a Hero?
Tuesday, November 13, 2018 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
TP/SS Campus RC/204
Military experiences can vary greatly and so can a veteran's feelings associated with their service. After a screening of the short BBC documentary, "What Makes a Hero?", a discussion will be facilitated around culturally complex issues of what it means to be called a hero, saying "Thank you for your service", and asking veterans discuss their military service.
*This event meets the FY19 multicultural requirement for employees.*

Veteran Documentary Corps: Zoe Dunning
Exploring the Injustices of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy
Wednesday, November 14, 2018 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Germantown Campus HT/216
Participants will watch a short documentary, followed with a facilitated discussion on the history, repealing and social consequences of the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy.
This event is co-sponsored by the Women and Gender Studies Program and the Combat2College Program.
*This event meets the FY19 multicultural requirement for employees.*

The Moral Obligation to Know Our Veterans
Friday, November, 16, 2018 2 p.m.-3 p.m.
Rockville Campus SW/301

Leaving the military is a major transition that can leave veterans with conflicting emotions, an unsure footing and experiences of difficulty fitting-in. After a screening of the short talk, "The Moral Obligation to Know Our Veterans", a discussion will be facilitated surrounding the complex issues of leaving the military, the emptiness of saying "Thank you for your service", and the responsibility we have to truly support those who volunteered to service in the U.S Military.
*This event meets the FY19 multicultural requirement for employees.*

Faculty are encouraged to allow students to attend.

For disability-related accommodations, please contact Joanna Starling, 240-567-7103 or Joanna.Starling@montgomerycollege.edu by Nov. 8 to allow sufficient time to make necessary arrangements.
