In the current political climate, refugees and asylees find themselves in the middle of the debate. These populations often face challenges that other immigrant groups do not. Where does Maryland stand in terms of numbers and outcomes in serving these populations? This one-hour workshop will explore these questions and propose ways of supporting these groups.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to ...
1. explain the difference between refugee status and asylee status.
2. describe how the influx of these groups to Maryland has changed over the years.
3. enumerate ways to help these populations succeed here at Montgomery College
