Each month the Montgomery College Rising Professionals Association (MCRPA) features a Q&A with one of our members. We ask a series of questions crafted to get to know our members on a more personal level outside of the roles they serve in at the college. This month, we are honored to spotlight Chauncy Butcher.

Chauncy Butcher, Interim Director of Student Life, Rockville Campus

<strong>1. How long have you worked at Montgomery College, and what is your current role? </strong>
I started in March of 2012 as the Transition Program Coordinator for the Adult ESOL and Basic Skills for College and Careers unit and recently accepted an interim position as Director of Student Life for the academic year. I started this position on October 8, 2018.
<strong>2. How long have you been in your current profession?</strong>
I've been in higher education since 2004.
<strong>3. How do you define success? Living out my purpose and positively impacting the lives of many.</strong>
Success is waking up every day with a smile on my face, goals to achieve, a plan of action, and enjoying what I set out to do.
<strong>4.What do you enjoy most about Montgomery College students?</strong>
I love the diversity here. There is so much we can learn from one another in this space. There is no college in the United States quite like Montgomery College.
<strong>5. What are you currently passionate about?</strong>
Achieving my 2018 - 2019 goals.
<strong>6. What is one goal you hope to achieve this year?</strong>
I hope to achieve my fitness goals next year.
<strong>7. What is your favorite quote?</strong>
"In a time of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists." --Eric Hoffer
<strong>8. What hobby would you get into if time and money were not an issue?</strong>
I would love to be a professional MMA fighter.
<strong>9. They say that everyone has a book in them. What would be the title of your book?</strong>
She was too busy living life!
<strong>10. What do you want to be remembered for?</strong>
I would like to be remembered as a person who inspired others to change their life in a significant way that made them healthier, happier, or more fulfilled.
