What do you do when a student, colleague, friend, or family member has a mental health disorder? One in four adults will be diagnosed with a mental health disorder at some point in their lives, so you know someone who is currently or has in the past struggled with their mental health. While you may think that there's nothing you can do to help, there are actually many ways you can impact the life of a person with a mental health disorder.
Mental Health First Aid is an intensive 8-hour certification course that teaches how to identify that a problem may be occurring, how to respond appropriately, and how to be an ally for individuals who have a mental health disorder. Successful completion will result in a 3-year certification.
A 2-part course is being offered at the Rockville Campus on Tuesdays, February 26, 2019 and March 5, 2019 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. each day. *You must register for and attend both days!!*
The course is now available on MCLearns under Pedagogy and Instruction. There is a $16.95 cost for the course that covers the Mental Health First Aid Participant Manual that you will keep.
