You may have heard of "TYCA," particularly if you come from English or other humanities disciplines. Standing for the "Two Year College Association," this part of the National Association of Teachers of English identifies and communicates the best theories, practices, and pedagogy for teaching English in the two-year college. Regional and national conventions and a journal, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, are vehicles TYCA typically uses to accomplish its mission.

Among TYCA's goals are promoting teaching excellence, recognizing and supporting diversity in the classroom and profession, and providing a forum for shared professional concerns. These and other goals are addressed through regional TYCA branches. The Northeast branch, for example, fosters the intellectual and pedagogical growth of two-year college English teachers and administrators throughout the northeast region.

We are proud to announce that Dr. Christina Devlin was appointed to serve as the TYCA representative for the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. In this capacity, she will communicate with state and local colleagues at the TYCA Northeast Annual Conference (October 24-26 in Portland, Maine) and share how two-year college teachers can participate in national conversations on ways to benefit students in their study of composition, literature, and the liberal arts.

Dr. Devlin--English professor, Honors Coordinator at the Germantown Campus, and Chair of the Operational Services Council--is excited about this opportunity and about sharing what she learns with colleagues at the Campus and College. We are excited for her and for the opportunity this affords all of us to learn from her experience. Congratulations, Dr. Devlin!
