As part of our Black History Month program, the Institute for Race, Justice, and Civic Engagement will be hosting a discussion on Medicare for All. Nancy Anderson, Ph.D., and member of the Leadership Council of Health Care Now, Maryland will join us. Dr. Anderson has taught the history of life sciences, biomedicine and visual culture (including film studies) at SUNY Buffalo and Johns Hopkins University. She also works with a consortium of activist groups organized by Public Citizen, Washington D.C., on the issue of pharmaceutical drugs and device pricing and access to medicines.

Health Care Now of Maryland is a national association made up of Americans committed to making single-payer, Medicare for All a reality in this country. HCHR supports members of Congress who sponsor Medicare for All bills, especially the House bill H.R. 676--"Improved, Expanded Medicare for All"--introduced in 2003 by now former Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan). Health Care Now lobbies members of Congress, canvasses to build grassroots support for single-payer, hosts conferences to build leaders for the movement, and organizes events to educate the public about a national health care system, Medicare for All.

When: February 13 @1 p.m.
Where: The Institute for Race, Justice, and Civic Engagement (TP/SS, Pavilion 4/Room 201)
