Gregory Malveaux, professor of English, co-edited a comprehensive guidebook that was released from IGI-Global. Titled Study Abroad Opportunities for Community College Students and Strategies for Global Learning, this book covers a wide range of topics--including measures that lead to success in international study, the unique needs of community college students who participate in study abroad programs, health and safety concerns, and outcome assessments. Broader issues--such as thinking globally about social justice and peacebuilding as a means to global citizenry--are also discussed.

Says one reviewer, "This book dispels the myth that community colleges are not as advanced in international education practices as are other types of institutions. The book documents the successes that community colleges have had in developing innovative education abroad and global learning programs that serve their local communities and diverse constituents through open access, and by implementing creative approaches and collaborations."

You can purchase the book here:

Congratulations to Professor Malveaux on this major contribution to current thinking about study abroad programs and how they can contribute to community college transformation.
