Montgomery County Executive's Caribbean American Advisory Group (CAA) announces its 2019 Business and Management Scholarship for students of Caribbean heritage who reside in Montgomery County.

The awardee will be announced during Caribbean American Heritage Month in June and will receive between $500-$1000 to assist with school expenses.

The 2019 scholarship was created in honor of former CAAG Chair and Montgomery County leader, Rayness R. Mayne (1934-2018). Ms. Mayne was a fearless leader, known for her advocacy and work within the Maryland Montgomery County Caribbean community and in her homeland, Jamaica. She had an unwavering devotion to public service and was specifically focused on working to achieve the County's goal of making this a welcoming community for all immigrant families. She endeavored to advance ventures and projects for her church, civic associations in the diaspora, for her homeland Jamaica and specifically the University of the West Indies.

Ms. Mayne was a Certified Public Accountant who was celebrated for her careful attention to details, well- kept records, accuracy and confidentiality which she applied to all her undertakings and insisted that others do likewise. She was business focused and this scholarship is aimed at supporting those who aspire to follow in her footsteps. We are grateful for her leadership within the Caribbean American Advisory Group and her overall contributions to the community.
