On Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 10 a.m., Germantown (the community, not the College) is hosting an Oktoberfest Parade which will be followed by lots of fun festivities in the downtown Germantown area. And guess what? MC is going to be in the parade! We are looking for students and employees from all campuses who are interested in being in the parade or are willing to volunteer to help with the logistics of the day. Sign up using this link: https://tinyurl.com/2019OktoberFestParade .

The parade route is down Century Blvd, essentially from DSW to the movie theatre (a little less than a mile). MC will have a school banner, signs, flags from people's country of origin, and items to giveaway as we stroll down the street. Dress in purple and plan to join us! The first 50 students that sign up (and show up) will get a free t-shirt and a meal at Jimmy Johns.

Following the parade, BlackRock Center for the Arts will be hosting a beer garden, live bands, an open house, and an array of vendors on their lawn. The fire house, police department, and Salvation Army will also be hosting an open house. Miss Rainbow will be making animal balloons for the kids. Green Turtle is planning a German-themed afternoon on their patio, local businesses are offering great deals, and social media will be abuzz with lots of giveaways. Councilmember Craig Rice will be the Grand Marshal and Widsom Martin from Fox 5 DC will be the parade emcee.

MC will be running a shuttle service from the Germantown Campus to the downtown area throughout the day to make access a bit easier. We hope you will be a part of the "sea of purple" on Saturday, October 5 or alternatively plan to come and cheer on MC as we go marching by! #MCProud
