Applications to be an MC Counts Student Ambassador are now open! Join a team of 18 other MC students making sure EVERYONE is counted for the 2020 Census. Our communities deserve our fair share of federal funding for schools, health care, libraries, and social services! Help ensure that everyone at Montgomery College and in our local community is accurately represented.

Application Deadline is Monday, December 2 by 5 p.m.

What is the Census? Every 10 years, the federal government conducts a population count of everyone in the United States. Why does this matter to Montgomery College? The federal government allocates more than $675 billion in funding every year based on census data. It's estimated that every Marylander not counted in the 2020 Census will cost the state approximately $18,250 over 10 years. This means hard to count communities miss out on funding for education, public safety, transportation, food, health, and more.

What is MC Counts? MC Counts is Montgomery College's Census 2020 outreach effort. MC Counts Student Ambassadors will promote the 2020 Census to targeted, hard-to-count communities at MC and in the county. MC Counts ambassadors will receive an orientation, training from Montgomery County Census representatives, and support the MC Counts team to conduct education and awareness outreach to student groups, classes, and at MC and community events across the College and the county. MC Counts Student Ambassadors will play a vital role in making sure everyone in our communities is aware of the 2020 Census and why it's important to all of us.
