<p>The Office of Student Life invites you to join other MC students to attend the 2020 Women's Legislative Briefing. This event is FREE for MC students who register through the Office of Student Life and includes lunch.</p>

<p><strong>2020 Women's Legislative Briefing</strong></p>
<p>Sunday, January 26</p>
<p>Doors Open at 11:30 a.m., Program 12:30 p.m.-6 p.m.</p>
<p>The Universities at Shady Grove, Building II</p>
<p>9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville, MD 20850</p>
<p>Transportation will be provided from MC-Rockville's campus at 11am and returning at 6 p.m.</p>
<p><a href="" target="_blank">The Women's Legislative Briefing (WLB)</a> is coordinated by the Montgomery County Commission for Women and brings together advocates, policy makers, and emerging leaders to empower, engage, and mobilize Marylanders around issues affecting women and girls throughout the state. It is the premier and longest-standing women's legislative event in the state of Maryland, attended annually by over 400 women. This event is a great opportunity for any woman interested in leadership or networking; however, it may be specifically of interested to majors in political science, international relations, criminal justice, health, or human services.</p>
<p>The Office of Student Life is covering the $30 registration cost and providing transportation for students who are committed to attending the entire program and doing a brief post-conference presentation to their peers about their experiences.In the past sessions have included:</p>
<li>health issues including health care reform;</li>
<li>labor issues including flexibility, paid leave, pregnancy fairness, fair pay and custody;</li>
<li>immigrant women's concerns;</li>
<li>women and poverty;</li>
<li>trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault and family law;</li>
<li>effective advocacy; and</li>
<li>successful strategies for increasing the number of women in elected and appointed office.</li>
