<p>Congratulations are in order for Mr. John B. McLean, Director of Planning, Design and Construction. After thirty-six years with Montgomery College, in the Office of Central Facilities, Mr. John McLean is retiring on May 22, 2020.</p>
<p>Mr. McLean began his career at Montgomery College as Capital Budget Manager, Central Facilities in 1984. He was later promoted to Director of Planning, Design and Construction.</p>
<p>Mr. McLean has played a pivotal role over the years in renovating and building state of the art facilities for our students. He was a member of the Task Force for early renovations of the Rockville Campus Technical Building, Humanities Building, and Fine Arts Building. John also played a role in design and construction of the Rockville Science Center. He was instrumental with the oversight for design and construction at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus for the Charlene R. Nunley Student Services Building, the Cafritz Art Building, and the Pedestrian Bridge. John was also involved with the Germantown Bio-Educational Science Center Project, negotiations on the Germantown Holy Cross Hospital site and the Germantown Observation Drive Road project. He was also a member of the first Governance Committee for Administrators.</p>
<p>We truly wish John a happy and well-deserved retirement. Those who has known him recognize him as a dedicated and critical member of the Facilities leadership team.</p>
<p>Please join me and the Facilities staff in extending deep gratitude and appreciation to Mr. McLean for his dedicated years of leadership and service to Montgomery College and the Facilities Department. Due to COVID-19 plans to celebrate his career has not been determined.</p>
