Office of Human Resources (OHR)-- Deputy Chief of Human Resources

Lynda S. von Bargen and the staff reporting to her have the responsibility for serving the College community's needs in the areas of benefits and retirement, classification and compensation, employment and recruitment and risk management and wellness. Focusing on the Risk Management and Wellness unit, the College is committed to creating an environment that supports healthier lifestyles for employees, their spouses, and retirees. The College offers a comprehensive wellness program on all three campuses. The programming is reviewed on a continuing basis and offerings are adjusted to meet the needs of the employees. The unit also assists employees college-wide to understand their rights and responsibilities under the workers' compensation and disability leave programs, and under applicable federal, state and local laws including ADA, FMLA, FUTA and HIPAA.

Staff members in the Office of Human Resources Risk Management and Wellness unit who are available to assist you include Rowena D'Souza, Human Resources Specialist, Lori Stegeman, Human Resources Associate and Brenda Salas, Wellness Coordinator. In addition, there are a number of wellness instructors who serve as a part of the Wellness Team available to serve your needs.

Lynda S. von Bargen

Lynda S. von Bargen, Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer, has been with the College for over 22 years. Prior to assuming her current role, she has served in several other positions within the Office of Human Resources including Benefits Specialist, Director of Benefits and Risk Management and Director of Personnel Management. She is responsible for providing leadership for the direction and administration of the College benefits programs, the classification and compensation systems, the employment and recruitment processes and the risk management and wellness programs. Lynda holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Pennsylvania State University and a MBA from Hood College. She is certified as a public sector human resources professional (IPMA-CP) and a member of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR). Lynette Evans

Lynette Evans has been employed in Human Resources as a Senior Administrative Aide since April 1997, first supporting the Director of Employee Management (now Chief HR Officer) and now supporting the Deputy Chief HR Officer. Rowena D'Souza

Rowena D'Souza currently serves as the Human Resources Specialist for Risk Management and Wellness Programs. She has been with the College for close to 20 years, 17 of those years have been spent employed within the Office of Human Resources. Her role is to lead and manage Risk Management and Wellness Programs at the College to provide comprehensive human resources services to MC's employees. This includes workers' compensation, unemployment, short and long term disability claims management, property, casualty and liability insurance and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). In this role she provides guidance, consultation and assistance to managers and employees and ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State and local laws and College Policies and Procedures. She is the ADA Coordinator for Faculty and Staff and the HIPAA Privacy Official at the College. She is responsible for Collegewide management and development of the Wellness Program. She plays a significant role in gaining the College the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval and the prestigious Health and Wellness Trailblazer award. Rowena has served on the Staff Senate. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work . She is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
