If you missed seeing Dr. Pinkney's latest video blog (vlog) last Friday, watch it below or at the College's Podcast site at: http://podcast.montgomerycollege.edu/podcast.php?rcdid=234&forceMP4Play=Yes#episode_6.
In the last week's video blog, Dr. Pinkney discusses three recent stories where faculty and staff at the College received county and national recognition for the academic programs and student services they provide to the students of Montgomery College. Dr. Pinkney congratulates staff in the Admissions and Enrollment Management unit for receiving one of the Montgomery County 2009 Board of Education Awards for Distinguished Service to Public Education. He also speaks about a recent roundtable discussion with the National Institutes of Health that highlighted the federal grant-funded Biomedical Scholars Program.
Just minutes before taping his video message, Dr. Pinkney received word from the Business Development and Grants Office that a college consortium -- which includes Montgomery College -- received approval for a $486,919 grant from NASA to support the liberal arts curriculum. The project, which will focus on global climate change education, will be implemented by Dickinson College in partnership with Montgomery College, HACC, Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania, and Northampton Community College. Montgomery College's funding from the grant will be slightly more than $36,000.
