As part of the Renaissance Scholars Honors Program at MC-Germantown, students toured the National Gallery of Art and the Freer and Sackler Galleries.
The Renaissance Scholars focused on viewing art related to Greek and Roman mythology at the National Gallery of Art. Then after sharing lunch together, they walked to the Freer and Sackler Galleries and viewed the sculpture and paintings depicting Hindu mythology. For many of the students, this tour was related to their HP101 seminar on art, mythology, and literature in which they read the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Ramayana. A special treat at the Freer Gallery was the opportunity to enter and view Whistler's Peacock Room. |
