Please join "In Their Own Voices: Deaf Culture and History" panel on Wednesday, October 28, 9 - 11 a.m., in the West Gude Training Facility, Room 115-A&B. PDS registration is easy: https://appserv.montgomerycollege.edu/signup/user/index.cfm
Employees attending the FY 2010 series of "In Their Own Voices" sessions are actively practicing intercultural competence through listening to stories and using respectful inquiry. The life-experiences shared shine a light on heritage, childhood and family, patterns, meaning, values and turning points. Instead of differences that divide, participants find the heart of unity at Montgomery College and will feel more at ease responding to MC students and community visitors. In this session, four interpreters will support class interactions across languages.
Comment from a 2008 participant: "I love the 'In their Own Voices' series. For me it is as much a spiritual experience as an educational one... I have often found the voices both powerful and very intimate at the same time. I like the format, which is kind of loose and lends itself to differences in cultural expression."
